Excess and Restraint

This chat deals with the question of design and sustainability. As designers, we have an urge to keep creating, but feel uneasy about unwanted consequences of our work in socio-economical, political and environmental terms. We discuss the designers’ work in relation to the theme of sustainability, but also debate wider questions. Is design contradictory with the challenges we face? Do we have to stop completely, or can we reimagine models? Is a post-capitalist world possible or even desirable?
